First week of school is almost finished, and our very first Friday will be early release! That means we’re already thinking about fun ways to make a family night special with the kids.
The kids always want pizza, but if we’re having fun with the kids out of the house on an early release day, sometimes we don’t have time to make our own. It’s easier to just run into Sam’s Club Cafe (find one near you here) and get everything we need.
They have a spectacular meal deal right now, just $13.98 for a large 16″ hot baked pizza, cheesy breadsticks with marinara sauce, half a dozen chocolate chunk cookies and one 2-liter bottle of Coca-Cola®.
Every bit of this dinner is a hit with our whole family, and I love that we can have it at home watching the football game, OR take it to a park and have a family picnic.
After dinner, have some more family time by making fun little origami footballs.
Start with a regular size sheet of paper (8 and a half by eleven inches).
Fold it in half lengthways, and cut down the crease, so you’re left with half a sheet of paper. You’ll only use one strip for making your origami football.
Fold the strip of paper in half lengthwise and crease.
Fold the bottom corner to the side, creating a triangle at one end.
Fold your triangle over on itself, making a thicker triangle on the other side.
Continue folding triangles to the end of the paper.
Unfold the last triangle to get a square shape back.
Fold the last piece into a second, matching triangle, with both points of the triangles meeting together.
Use scissors to cut off the point of the thinner triangle.
Tuck the remainder of the thin triangle into the little pocket formed by the thicker triangle.
Then, every one can decorate their own footballs.
If you have younger kids, the folding and creating will be complex but the most fun part! Older children might enjoy holding the footballs on the end and seeing who can flick them the farthest!
Have fun making your own origami footballs and enjoying the amazing Pizza meal deal from the Sam’s Club Cafe closest to you!
