I, along with just about every other adult I know, have been trying out a new diet/exercise routine for the New year. For me that means running occasionally and eating less of the wonderful, beautiful carbs (Yes I’m still making the effort even though its March! I know…I’ve really outdone myself this year).
However, a big part of this effort to eat healthy is to eat breakfast every morning. So, I have been trying to find a few quick and healthy, albeit not low in carbs at all, breakfast food options. So I added some oatmeal to my smoothie and viola! It’s different, but delicious! Not to mention it takes about 2 minutes to throw together so it’s perfect if you’re like me and always rushing out the door no matter how early you wake up. It also keeps me full until lunch, because of all the extra fiber and protein that the oatmeal provides. Enjoy your most important meal of the day!
Strawberry Banana Breakfast Smoothie
Ingredients
- 6 oz milk
- 1 cup thawed strawberries
- 1/2 cup oats
- 1 banana
- 1 Tbsp honey
- 1 cup of ice
Instructions
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
- 6 oz milk
- 1 cup thawed strawberries
- 1/2 cup oats
- 1 banana
- 1 Tbsp honey
- 1 cup of ice
- Put all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth
You can use fresh or frozen strawberries for this recipe. If you choose to use frozen, be sure to allow them to thaw before adding to the blender. If they are frozen when you add them, they will make the smoothie too thick and you will end up having to add more milk to compensate.
This will result in a watery tasting smoothie. Not a good time, especially when you are in a rush to work like I usually am when I make these, and not able to remake it.
Blend wisely my friends.
